In badminton doubles, the serve is the most important part of the rally. Specifically you should be using a backhand low serve to fight for the first chance to attack. A bad serve will always be punished, and you can easily lose the point off it.

  13. This serve technique simply does not work for me. I've been playing for 45 years and after the first ten years of serving badly from the line, I took 2 steps back and serve 5 feet back from the serve line. This allows me a much greater choice of serves and I catch the opponent out many times each match. I also serve forehand all the time. Not sure why you think this is a bad idea. I am able to control direction, speed and slight of hand much better on the forehand. As you said in your backhand video, no-one has a better backhand than forehand, so why not apply that logic to serving? The only disadvantage to my method of serving is that the shuttle takes longer to arrive giving the opponent more time to react, but my vast choice of serve style more than makes up for that. I have also noted that the best league player in our club serves at 4 to 5 feet from the serve line. Having said all that, I am sure that at a professional level, serving from the line on the backhand is best, but I would suggest that very few of the viewers here are professionals or likely to be. These are club level players trying to better club players. I like all your other videos (I am subscribed) and I like your no nonsense presentation, but this video does not resonate with me.
